I want to say again that this contest isn't about the prize or wether the judging part is fair, to judge fairly is a long and difficult task and I frankly don't want to get into it. The deciding factor of winning could be based on quality, but also could be based heavily on the judge's preference. In the end, this contest is about practice and self-enrichment, not about the prize, not about the fairness of the judge. It is about your own improvement.

This OC can be a completely original creation, or a fan-fic character of existing games or anime. one entry per person please. You may enter one OC every month regardless of your previous winning status.

this 1 OC becomes the character to be drawn, this will be a contest. the owner of the OC will be the judge of the contest, and the winning artist of the drawing contest will be awarded 1 year of membership on DA. this part is based on the preference of the owner of the OC.  You may enter 1 drawing every month regardless of your previous winning status.

This isn't a lot for a prize, but if you think this is worth your effort, then do it, if not, nothing is lost.

Hello everyone, Sorry for the long long Hiatus, had quite a few things to sort out before today. with the new year and all the late work I had to finish, I'm still behind with some commissions but hopefully with my new daily schedule set up, i will catch up on those as well, so if you are on such a list and been waiting for a long while, please give me just a bit more time, i will catch up on these late work. @__@

I started a daily monster sketch, so hopefully this will help make up for my lack of action for the past months. please feel free to join in on this excercise as well, i care less about the quality about these works, the important thing for me is keep doing one each day, hopefully to do this for a whole year. =] I think it will be a big dedication and accomplishment. =]

i didnt want to ask this before we get funded, because it would have been in vain.

anyways, the character winner of the contest goes to
i am still deciding on the monster winner, and alternatively, i want to choose an additional character and monster winner. so the total will be 4 people. i need to talk to my boss about this first though. but i will know something this weekend.


anyways, i want to ask everyone who has entered their art to the contest.

the idea is that i want to make all the entries into a downloadable collection of images, like a digital art book. I want to know your thoughts about it. I dare to say i want to make it a free download, but this is before I know how much fee would be involved for the studio, like hosting space and stuff. I will update this as soon as I find out.

heres is what will happen. these might change as decisions are made later on, but I will make sure all who let us use their image, know the rules ahead of time.

1. the image will be used on a permission basis, we are not including the image as property of the Anima universe. for example, we can not, in anyway, sell your image or concept to anyone.

2. the image will have your name or alias, as you see fit.

the purpose for doing this is that i wanted to show everyone, all the entries without going all over the place.

if you have suggestions, please let me know, anything that would help make it fair, or more worth a while.

the detail of this will still be discussed with the Anima studio. so im open to all ideas

im sure most of you already know, that some entries seem to shine more than the others, but i've seen a lot of good ideas too, who arent on the same level of skills as others. I will see what I can do for that.

this is  a contest for a character for the "Anima: Gate of Memories" video game.

I will be very clear, there will be NO PAYMENT for any winners here. You enter if you want to do this, and we are in no way trying to scam anyone of doing free work.


What the winner will get out of this contest:

1. the winner's character will be 3D modeled, and put into the game as a character inside the game and story. We will work to incorporate this character into the story, without him or her just standing around for nothing.  

2. the winner's full name will be in the credits.

3. This character will be copyrighted primarily to this game, you are allowed to use the artwork for your portfolio, but may be a bit complicated if you want to sell him/her off to a new client. Details of copyright can be discussed with the winner.



What we are looking for:

1. human character in any age or body type, he/she should look like a fantasy based person. look at any of my anima characters for reference.

2. a monster creature. it should have a clear visual part that can be used to attack. like  a claw or a long horn, etc. can be a ghostly type as well, but please keep in mind that it should be able to attack in some way. =]

You are allowed to enter 1 drawing for character and 1 drawing for creature, 2 total if you design both. link your design here as a comment when you submit.

important notes: please keep in mind that this design will be modeled in 3D, try not to have too many small  hanging parts.
the finished entry can be in black and white or in color, in the case of color, best to keep it without background, so we can see the parts clearly. you are free to put as much effort as you see fit, if you want to just make the front view, fine, or you can do the whole front, back and side views. like i said, all this work, benefits yourself the most. =]

i'll not beat around the bush here, this contest is held for a couple of purposes, we all know one of them is to help promote the on-going kickstarter project, we are doing OK with pledges, but still a lot to go.

the other purpose is I like seeing characters, I like seeing people draw =]

i know what some of you may think here, "well, my skill level isn't going to win me anything here"

my friend, that is not the case in this event. ALL entries will be have the same amount of chance, the final winner is not based on how well the drawing or writing is done. the winner will be RANDOM. you are asked to do your best because you owe it to yourself for a good piece of work. The final piece will remain your own property, im just trying to get some activities going here. XD

you need to do one of the following to quality as an entry.

1. a drawing of a lamia in any media (traditional, digital, photo-manip, also welcome)

2. a short story involving a lamia. preferably no longer than 1 page.


there are a few versions of the lamia monster, what i am looking for is the one that is top half human, and lower half snake. now most of these are portrayed as female, but if you are up to it, feel free to make a male one.

also regarding the hair, you are free to make it snake hair or normal hair.

if you are a cosplayer or have other talents not included in drawing or writing, i will accept other ways of making as entry as well. comment with your idea on how you want to make your entry.

you have until October 1st for last entry. one or two day late is fine. but no later than 3 days.
